Chef-Boutonne is situated in the Deux-Sèvres (Poitou-Charentes) in the western side of France, just 39 km from Niort, the departmental capital, and just over an hour’s drive from the Atlantic coast at La Rochelle.

Well known for its café pavement culture, Chef Boutonne is very popular with British buyers and has good communications with the UK by road, rail and air, whilst the ferry port of St Malo is around a 4 hour drive.

Poitou Charentes benefits from up to 2,400 sunshine hours a year and is the sunniest place of the whole Atlantic coast, making this area one of the most pleasant climates in France along with the French Riviera. Winters are really mild and thanks to the oceanic climate, summers are hot but not muggy.

The long hours of sunshine, enable the region to be successful in agriculture as well of course as the wine / liqueur production such as the famous Cognac wines.
