It is almost Easter, and the first quarter of the year has flashed by. The early indications are that the year is going to be buoyant for sales, and our diaries are being booked well ahead of clients’ viewing visits. |
Undoubtedly, the low-cost airlines have fuelled the explosion of interest in this area – we have in 2007 three regional airports at Poitiers, La Rochelle & Angouleme receiving flights from the UK & Ireland. In addition within a 2 hour drive we also have Bordeaux, Nantes and Limoges, meaning that it is possible to fly into this region from practically anywhere in the UK. |

Later this year, the improved route for Eurostar will mean that it is possible to board a TGV train at Poitiers at 08.30 and arrive in London at around 13.00 with just a change of platform at Lille. Experts are predicting that this is certainly going to underpin prices here, if it does not cause them to rise further. The Times recently reported that environmentally-aware buyers are already taking the swing from air and road towards greener forms of transport for their holiday homes. One quote from the report “The whiff of change – from aviation fuel – is definitely in the air. Many estate agents believe that the high-speed rail link, the threat of green taxes on air travel and lengthy security delays at airports will persuade more second-home owners to let the train take the strain”. |

Something that we have previously mentioned and would recommend to our clients is a service called Skype. This is a simple programme to run on your PC (using a headset and microphone), enabling you to call anyone else on Skype, anywhere in the world free of charge, whilst connected to the internet. There are some other useful things you can do on Skype that are not free (but they are pretty cheap, actually). This service is ideal for talking to Agents such as ourselves, enabling us to communicate between each other without watching costs, and of course your friends and family (whether here in France or in the UK). It really is a "win / win" deal for everyone concerned. |
